WHY IS HAND HOSPITALITY CURATING THIS EVENT, HUNGRY?

Culinary arts and branding restaurants are our main ventures; however, we also delve deeply into art and culture. We believed all are essentials in a lifetime experience. HAND wants to create hungry as a platform where one can express their hunger and eagerness with minimal limitations. We are committed to promoting creativity, education, arts and culture.

WHAT ARE THE PERKS FOR THE SELECTED ARTISTS?

Selected artists’ artworks will be displayed and photographed during the event. Performing artists will be recorded and listed on the event’s program. All artists will be listed or recorded on our website, social media platforms, and will receive records of their works after the event.

Finally, each artist has a chance to be awarded one of the three $1000 prizes.

WHAT DOES THE TERMINOLOGY OF HUNGRIEST ARTISTS MEANS?

One who can expresses the aims of hungry event while contributing their own unique perspective, ideas, and style. We are looking for emerging artists to push the boundaries of contemporary art, Asian/American Asian arts in the NYC area, and who consider HAND Hospitality’s aims of cross-discipline culture in society beneficial. Express yourself. Inspire others. Record the experience. Connect hungry humans.

WHO ARE SELECTING THE HUNGRIEST ARTISTS?

With the believe that “art is for everybody”, attending guests and guest artists will be voting the top three hungriest artists (two from visual artist and one from performing artist) *performing artist will only be voted against other performing artists.

HOW MANY ARTISTS ARE SELECTED IN TOTAL?

15-20 artists will be selected. 75% visual artists and 25% performing artists.

HOW IS THIS EVENT DIFFERENT FROM A TRADITIONAL ART CONTEST?

We want to create an enjoyable platform where one can express their creativity to the max and with a memorable experience for each attending artist. To do this we are maximizing out selected artists, minimizing requirements, and encouraging all selected artists to bring friends and family along for the entire event (the art viewing included). This is also the reason the awards are all the same amount and announced at the end of the event. We want to focus on the idea that the award is an encouragement to continue your practice.

WHICH MEDIA FORMS ARE ACCEPTED?

Everyone can be hungry. And art takes many forms. We welcome 2D, 3D, and performative works including, but not limited to: painting, illustration, sculpture, photography, digital, mixed media, product designs, garments, textiles, music and performing arts. As long as the work is safe, non-destructive, and applies to the terms and conditions we are open to the format.
